Mary and Duane Tschosik were both raised in Linton and graduated from Linton High School. Duane graduated from NDSU and Mary went to NDSU for one year. They have four children that helped them in their business, untill they left for college.
"We are a scratch bakery with 42 years of experience. We specialize in delicious donuts, cookies, cream puffs, cakes, caramel rolls, coffee cakes, breads, buns, kuchens, blachenda, homemade noodles, and cheese buttons. We started in our bakery in 1975 with no experience in the baking industry. Uncle Max the previous owner trained us in the art of making breads, buns, donuts, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, etc. After one month of intense training, we were on our own. It was quite an experience, and we look back and have many laughs. We were lucky to have a baker call us for a job, and his experience helped us immensely.
Model Bakery has been a successful business serving nine towns in three counties. Things have changed, however, and the wholesale business has more emphasis on the distribution of kuchen, a German pastry with fruit and custard.
How much longer will we go? We are asked that question often. As of now, we are enjoying our business more than ever, and plan to keep the business going as long as possible."
